Trail Repair Fencing Before.jpg

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY 'WIDEN' THE TRAIL?

  • Enlarge the sections of the existing trail that are in good shape from the current 8 foot width to 12 or 14 feet in width for safety for both cyclists and pedestrian usage

  • Upgrade the current sections of the trail that are frequently flooded by raising it up above the flood plain as well as providing adequate drainage. Another alternative being explored is to elevate the trail onto a short boardwalk where needed in these flooding areas

  • Rebuild a new trail next to the existing trail, where a new track is needed for drainage and safety reasons (like the crossing of the Merriman plains past Abrams II, or the narrow passage of the Abrams I underpass)

  • Provide a dual track for cyclists and pedestrians whenever feasible, using the existing 8 foot trail for only pedestrians and then adding a new trail exclusively for cyclists
